What is Harvest Hop?
Come join us for a 50s throwback at the Harvest Hop Sock Hop Dance. Starting towards the end of WWII "sock hops," as they were called, began as a student effort to raise money for the war, by holding a dance in the high school/college gymnasium or cafeteria. In order to protect the varnish floors, students were required to remove their shoes and would dance in their white socks.
BYUSA Vintage Swing aims to preserve and teach vintage American dances and dance culture, so this November, we're bringing students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the excitement of the sock hops of the 1950s! Don't know how to dance? No worries! We'll be teaching era-style dance and playing music from the sock hop era (late 40s to mid 60s), so you can feel, and dance, like it's 1956. Treats and more fun surprises will be served...
"Be there or be square!"

Dress Code
We recommend wearing 50s-style clothing (think Grease), and specifically white socks—nobody danced at hops in anything but white socks back in the day.
As we are a BYU club, please follow the BYU Honor Code Dress Standards which can be found here, whether or not you are a BYU student (see important purchasing info below). Have fun with dressing up, but have clean fun!
